Ok,
now for the show itself:
Overall, it was great! All three bands rocked!
Styx- Loved their set! They really looked like they were having a great time up
there. Got people on their feet, screaming and singing along. I haven't bought
Cyclorama yet, but after last nite, I think I am going to.
REO- I agree with just about all the reviews I've seen so far- Too much
"dead space" between numbers. Between all the talking and then just
keeping the lights down while they rearranged positions or fitted up wireless
mikes or whatever, it left holes in the show that took some of the edge off the
energy, I think. They need to get that part a bit more together. But when they
played, they were really good! They did the whole first side (going back to
vinyl terminology!
) of
Hi Infidelity. It was a fun set, but could have been better, IMO.
Journey- What can I say? They rocked the house! They had the whole place on
their feet, screaming! Most people rocked right along to all of it, even State
of Grace- tho the guy sitting next to Steph, wearing a Journey t-shirt, no less,
DID sit during that one. What's up with that?
Steph
said she thought he was a nice guy (he was!) up unitl then- then she wanted to
poke him and tell him to get back up and enjoy! That's my Journey fan daughter!

We were sitting on the floor, about 16 rows back on Jon's side of the stage.
(Which, if you've read my posts for any length of time, you already know is the
ONLY side to be on, as far as I'm concerned!
) Steph
thinks it's pretty sad- what can I say? It's my 20 some odd year long "rock
star crush"!!
I can
keep that, can't I?
I was right
on the end of the row and we did have a beer spill from over the rail of the
side seats.
Got Steph's
jacket and a really nice suede one that a girl in front of us had. Worst part
was, those side seats had cup holders for each one- they couldn't put the bottle
in there? Nooooo- had to have it sitting on the rail in front, to knock over!
Oh, well....
The funny thing that happened was when REO finished, Steph left to go to the
ladies room. She was standing in line (I guess there was a girl in there who'd
had a few too many of those beers and they had to get paramedics in and were not
letting anyone into the ladies room till they were done)- when she heard the
music start for Journey's set, she left the line and booked it back to our
seats! She never did get to the bathroom till after the show!
Said she
wasn't going to miss ANY of Journey!!!
The ride home was uneventful, except when we got detoured off Rte 3 in
Chelmsford, MA because of construction- but it wasn't too bad- just a bit more
roundabout to get up here.
Great nite, great people, great show! I wanna do it all over again!!!!!
