Mason and Hamlin Factory Tour
May 2, 2006
A few months ago, I joined the Piano World Forums. Not only is it fun and informative- it's free! (Hint, hint!) One of the really cool things about them is that they host get-togethers for members at times. One of the things they host in this area is a tour of the Mason and Hamlin piano factory in Haverhill, MA. We went along on this year's tour. It was an incredible day!
The tour started in the morning- by the time we actually got going, I guess it was 10 or so. It was led by Bruce Clark from M&H, and he did a fabulous job! Very informative and interesting. We got to go right into the factory areas and watch the craftsmen/women at work from right beside them, in many cases. We saw the way a Mason and Hamlin grand is built, from the piles of maple boards right along to the finished, ready-to-ship piano.
