My Piano Page

I began to take piano lessons about a year ago.  It's something I have always wanted to do, and never did.  I finally decided that if I did not make the decision to start, I never would get that dream realized.  Smart, huh?  So, I found a teacher and dived in.  It's been fun- hard at time, yes, and maybe a bit frustrating, but always fun!  I am enjoying it immensely!

This is my piano.  It is a Mason and Hamlin upright that was built in 1889.  Yep, that's right- my piano is 117 years old!  And I love it!  It has a wonderful warm sound and is just a joy to play.  It is a screwstringer, which was something Mason and Hamlin patented, and does keep the piano in tune much longer than a "normal" tuning mechanism.

As for the music I want to play, well, there is a lot!  I am really a fan of pop/rock, jazz and New Age  music and want to learn some of my favorites in all those areas.  I am also playing a bit of Classical music.  I don't think I will ever want to exclusively concentrate on Classical, but there is a lot that I like, and I know it does help with technique.
